Gibson Eats!

E-mail Print PDF

Gibson had been sleeping through the night for a good month until a couple of weeks ago.  The first night Philip and I just thought it was a fluke, but then it continued to happen.  We weren't very happy!

I thought that cereal at night might help.  Maybe he wasn't getting enough milk during the day.  At his four month check-up, the doctor said that she really didn't want him having cereal until he was six months old.  However, she said we could reevaluate if needed.  Well...we thought it was time to reevaluate so I made an appointment to see his doctor.

She really wasn't happy with the idea, but I finally conviced her that we really did enjoy our sleep.  That night Gibson got his first tast of "real food."

As you can see, not much of it made it into his mouth.  Most ended up on the bib, and as you will notice from this picture, he actually liked eating the bib more than his cereal.

We have only done cereal twice after this night.  He has slept through the night most of those nights.  Maybe it was just a growth spurt...

Gibson Michael

Gibson Michael Lutz is HERE!

Born at 8:35 8:25 AM on January 21, 2011.  IMG_2119_WinCEHe weighed in at 8 lbs 9 oz. Even though there was about two inches of snow we had no problems coming in.  We did pass two wrecks on the interstate.  The police were already on the scene, but it did not look like anyone was hurt.  Even with all this I was able to get us to the hospital at 5:54 AM.  For those who know me well please take note that I was able to get us to the hospital not only on time, but with six minutes to spare!

The wait for surgery was... um... well... painfully slow.  It is not that we did not have things to do (read as paper work) but we were just ready for a baby!  Surgery went without any problems or complications.  Baptist has made changes to their procedures since we were here two and half years ago.  This time Gibson and I were able to stay with Natalie through the entire procedure and then go to recovery with her.  This was better for all of us.  With Keegan I was asked to leave with Keegan and take him to the nursery leaving Natalie by herself for quite some time.  That caused me GREAT anxiety.  This time I could be with both Gibson and Natalie--what a great joy.

Natalie's parents and sister also came up to see our new bundle of joy.  They  weren't scared of the ice and snow.  What should have been about a thirty minute drive was an hour and a half "adventure" and arrived to the hospital around 8:00 AM.  They too made it without any problems only to wait...wait and wait some more for Natalie to come out of recovery. After about two hours in recovery we were moved to "our" room on the 7th floor around noon.  Shortly after arriving here we were greeted by Pastor Howard and Associate Pastor Shane Tarter.  Thank you for coming.  It really means a lot to both of us.  Natalie's parents and sister were finally able to find us in our new room. Around 2:30 PM my parents brought The Boy, Keegan, to see his little brother.  IMG_2143_WinCENatalie and I have been discussing this moment with him for weeks now, but we could know for sure how he would react to his new brother.  I met my parent's and Keegan at the elevator and walked with him to our room.  We talked about Gibson and he was "excited".  When he entered the room he was happy to see his new brother!  He was VERY excited and when asked him if he wanted to hold his new brother he said "YES!" with great excitement!

Thank you for your prayers, words of wisdom and support!

Polar Express

E-mail Print PDF

Keegan LOVES trains, and Philip and I had been wanting to take him on the commuter train that goes back and forth from Nashville.  However, we never could find a good time to do so.  So we were really excited when we found out about the Polar Express.  You catch the train downtown at the Train Museum and ride out to Lebanon and back.  During the train ride, Santa comes to talk with all of the riders.  We talked about this train ride for weeks.  Keegan was SO excited!! We arrived at the museum kind of early (we didn't want to miss the ride).  The train wasn't ready to take off so we went inside of the museum where a model train was set up.  Keegan was very intrigued.  I think that he could have gone then and been a happy little man.  However, we convinced him that we should ride the train.  We gave him his ticket, and went to stand in line to board the train.

Once on the train, Keegan was eager to get going.  He was running from side to side and looking out all of the windows.  After about thirty long minutes of waiting, the train finally took off.  I don't really think that he totally understood what was happening at first, but he slowly became adjusted and was ready for the ride. He did really well for about the first fifteen minutes of our ninety minute ride.  He had seen and ridden a train.  Philip later said that he thought that he would sit there for the entire time and just watch out the windows.

Well he didn't...  It didn't take long for Santa to come along so that was good.  He willingly went to stand and have his picture made with Santa. When Santa asked what he wanted for Christmas, Keegan said chicken.  Wow!!  I wasn't expecting that.

Keegan with Santa

After Santa, we spent some time walking through the different cars.  We thought that it would be a good idea to walk down to the food car.  We weren't really hungry, but just wanted to check it out.  Well...what we didn't realize was that the food car was about six or seven cars from the one that we were on.  That doesn't seem like a challenge but with a two year old who had been "trapped" in a small space for a while and an eight month pregnant mom this proved to be quite the experience.  The cars we walked through were quite a bit smaller and full of people.  I thought that we would never make it back.  Here is us going through...

Walking through the train cars

We really had an amazing time.  It was a chance to make memories that we will never forget, and Keegan can now say that he has actually ridden on a train.  Here is one finally picture of all of us after the amazing train ride...
